At CSFR, we implement the HighScope methodology in our preschool, an approach backed by more than 50 years of research from Yale University. This girl-centered educational model promotes active learning, planning, critical thinking and problem solving, strengthening their autonomy, confidence and self-esteem by enabling them to make decisions and overcome challenges in creative and positive ways.
HighScope integrates clear routines, a structured environment and continuous assessments, ensuring meaningful learning. In addition, it involves families in the educational process, fostering comprehensive cognitive, emotional and social development.
A model designed for the success of our girls!
The Plan-Do-Review is the centerpiece of the educational approach of the HighScope curriculum. This cycle, composed of the Plan-Do-Review stages, guides children’s active learning, allowing them to make decisions, execute them, and reflect on their experiences.
Girls plan what they want to do during work time, including the area they will visit, the materials they will use, and who they will play with.
Girls work on their plans or new activities of interest, with the goal of achieving their project. Teachers act as guides in the process.
The girls review what they have done and learned, and share their experiences as a group with their peers and teachers, reflecting on the process and results.
At HighScope, girls actively learn through the Plan-Do-Review cycle, where they plan, execute and reflect on their activities. This approach promotes autonomy, exploration and the construction of knowledge through hands-on experiences. Teachers guide the process with open-ended questions, encouraging inquiry in a safe environment. This method develops key skills such as problem solving, teamwork and emotional self-regulation, connecting interests with educational goals.
