On September 30, Colegio Las Pachas celebrated the inauguration of its Cultural Center, a space created through the transformation of our library to inspire students to read, create, explore art, and discover new ways of seeing the world. The celebration brought together students, families, and special guests for a morning filled with music, literature, and artistic expression.
A Morning Celebrating Talent
The event began with music by Bach, performed by two talented young guest artists: Sergio Alejandro Rodríguez Schaefer, a Colombian-German musician and orchestra conductor, and Samanta Villamizar Saiz, a Colombian violinist and singer-songwriter.
Literature also took center stage as Mariana (8A), Estefanía (9B), Sofía (11B), and Sara (11A), writers for The Scoop, our English-language school magazine, shared their original works with families. They were joined by Emma (4B) and Antonia (6B), winners of the Pachas in 100 Words writing competition, showcasing how writing allows students to express their ideas, emotions, and unique perspectives.
An Encounter with International Art
The inauguration also featured the International Biennial, an exhibition showcasing artistic expressions from eight countries: Cuba, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, the United States, France, the Dominican Republic, and Argentina. Esta experiencia estuvo acompañada por Manolo Colmenares, maestro en Bellas Artes y director de la Corporación Movimiento Artístico Cultural e Indígena (MACI) y de la Bienal Internacional de Arte Suba, quien contribuyó a acercar a nuestra comunidad a distintas miradas del arte y la cultura.
A Space to Imagine, Create, and Shine

With the opening of the Pachas Cultural Center, we continue to strengthen spaces that foster creativity, critical thinking, artistic appreciation, and a love of learning. We thank our students, families, and guests for being part of this celebration, which marks the beginning of new cultural experiences for our school community.
